Elaine Sanders, Solutions Jardins Founder

In 2001, I left my secure government job to pursue my passion and I never looked back. I attained my Diploma in Gardening and Landscaping with Honours in 2000, but most of what I learned about plants and landscapes, I learned through my own personal and professional gardening experience.
After meeting Ontario gardening celebrity Mark Cullen, I started my first job as a Landscape Designer at Weal and Cullen Nurseries and then later at Sheridan Nurseries, both based in the greater Toronto area. I also learned about horticulture and the gardening industry while working for Bradford Greenhouses, Garden Gallery.
The country garden I created on my half acre property in Ontario won a nation-wide contest for best border and was featured in the November 2002 issue of Gardening Life Magazine (now discontinued). It was a proud accomplishment during my new career in Landscape Design.
When I’m not designing gardens, I enjoy writing about gardening and landscaping in a regular column in the Suburban newspaper’s Home section (look for links to my published articles in this website) as well as teaching about gardening. Whenever time and weather permit, I also enjoy working in my own garden.
Gardening is my passion because it allows me to express my creativity while combining the things I love: art and nature.
Another thing I am passionate about is helping others; I have worked for over a decade assisting children with special needs in an educative setting and I am currently working on extending my career in gardening and landscaping to focus on horticultural therapy. Plants and gardens not only beautify, but also nourish and heal.
I look forward to providing creative gardening solutions to the various challenges you may face.
